A Great Book! September 27, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I stayed away from The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger for a while. The reviews seemed to range from brilliant to people not enjoying it at all. Now I add myself to the group of readers who love this book. With its most unusual concept - a man who can travel through time - the book is not at all futuristic or bordering on science fiction. I loved the writing style throughout the book and, while it took me a few chapters to get used to the time shifting, it was utterly amazing to learn how everything unfolded to fit together as more and more of the story was revealed through the various timelines. The movement back and forth through time was not at all confusing. Ultimately, this was the amazing love story of Clare and Henry. Deeply sad in some ways, it was also very moving. This was definitely one of the most different books I've read in a while and also one of the best.

This is an AMAZING story. I have read hundreds of books and this one will always be in my Top 5. It keeps you thinking about it well after you've finished reading it.
double wow July 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had a difficult time with the begining...but once I got a sense of the characters and dates, it was great. My children ate a lot of peanutbutter sandwiches just so I could have more time to read. When I got to the last ten pages, I closed the book and out it down for a week. I didn't want it to be over. All the way though, I thought "this would be a great movie". I hear they are making it into a movie. I can't wait!
This Book is About You June 18, 2008 The Time Traveler's Wife is about how, when you lie awake at night, torturing yourself over how you could have allowed a past love affair to end, it is because you think that, then, you were the same person you are now.
Highly recommended.
Complex Simplicity May 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Wow. Normally I really don't like books whose plot lines jump all over in time. I'm not a strong enough reader to be able to handle that. But this is an exception, and why? Because it is such a beautiful, simple story. One of a strong, fantastic love. What I loved about the book was how it all worked. I found myself sitting back thinking "well, this could never happen because...." and a few pages later she'd shatter my doubts, and this continued to draw me into the story, allowing it to seduce. The male characters are as strongly defined as the female, which I find rare when a book is written by a female and has such a strong male presence in it. This is one of the best books I have read this year!
