"The Linkside Detective does it again" May 17, 2005 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
" They say that everyone has a book inside them - thankfully Kirby has spewed out two lets hope he keeps going. Written in Dick's unique style of humour and informative mutterings Dick tells it as it is - in an entertaining fashion - which should have practical policemen everywhere whooping in the aisle's. A really great book - I thoroughly enjoyed it ".
Tough policing with a generous dash of compassion April 23, 2005 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Dick Kirby's utterly convincing account of full-on policing, as seen from the inside by one of its most effective practitioners, reads like a thriller; and is fully worth the cover price for the hilarious tale of "Old Bluey" alone ("the most horrible person I'd ever had dealings with"). The attitudes, techniques and procedures described might not stand up in today's courts of law, but they were effective, and administered with humanity. Let us hope that there are still crime fighters with Kirby's determination and integrity. "Rough Justice" is a great read.
A 'first class' read March 27, 2005 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is a book that everyone should read it shows just what 'real' coppering is about. on the side of the decent law abiding members of the Public. It is a tragedy that 'Policing' in 2005 has now become totally ineffective and has lost all confidence of the people they should be serving - spend out and get this book onto your bookshelf Men like Dick Kirby are unique and a golden asset to law enforcement.
A fun and interesting read February 25, 2005 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have just finished reading The Real Sweeney and really enjoyed the insight into the Flying Squad as it use to be. Dick Kirby has written this in an amusing yet informative way. If you are after a book that is not too heavy to read and have a curious mind, I strongly recommend this book.
