5 out of 5 stars Great for self improvement   September 8, 2008

Every January I clear the jumps out of my arena and spend the month doing excersises from this book and by the end of the month all the horses are more balanced and responsive and my riding is more acurate. Very helpful, especially for those without access to a trainer.

I bought this book having previously bought Jec Aristotle Balou's book '101 dressage exercises', which is very good. This is undoubtedly better - whilst the exercises are equally valid andhelpful, there is much more explanation and a useful cross-referencing guide.... "if this doesn't work, try exercise 38 to improve X."
The 'celebrity' exercises are actually fab - I thought this might be a bit of a sales fad, but it's hard not to take seriously exercises that Sylvia Loch, Tim Stockdale and Richard Davison state as 'essentials'
Perfect book coming into winter when, let's face it, we all sometimes go into the menage thinking 'what shall we do today?'..... this book will give you all you need, and you may never be at a loss again!

This is a good book for people training their horses and wishing to improve their gymnastic ability.
it has good little tips however it's not much use for people with problems with their riding postion at all, because it does not teach you how to ride it.
it is used purely for different layouts and spacing. To work though, and build up confidence of horse and rider
