Best so far November 3, 2008 It is a really good book. I couldn't stop reading it. It is funny and exciting and really makes me want to have some bubblegum! It is a book for boys and girls to read. Don't be put off by the pink picture!!!
A great read December 14, 2007 My six year old son loved this book. AMS writes in a lovely traditional way for children, he doesn't patronise, use slang or try to be 'with it'. This book is a good old fashioned read, it's great to read out loud as the sentences are beautifully formed. AMS also uses some quite challenging words and expressions (challenging for young children that is) but that's really nice too, as it leads on to other discussions. The book has a limited number of illustrations and is of a decent length - it has helped my son to use his imagination more and rely on picture cues less.
Brilliant for 6 year olds October 5, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Always looking for something that i can read and enjoy with my 6yr old twins. This book has to be one of our more successful finds! I'm so pleased to find that this author has written so many kids books because i'm confident that we will now have a supply of great kids' stories for some time. We loved 'The Doghnut Ring' too. Buy this book to read and enjoy with your kids; you can't go wrong!
boys' fantasy and the parents' dream October 10, 2005 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
as a parent, we struggle to interest my young sons in reading. But one day we picked up Bubblegum Tree from the local library by chance and boys did not want to part from the book even in the bath. I myself failed to understand why "Touching tiger's tail" could be so intriguing to them, nonetheless the book was a big hit and we are going to buy some more books by the same author.
