5 out of 5 stars i want to cry   January 15, 2001
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

I read this a long long time ago when I was a little girl and I lost the book. back then it didnt matter much but now that i'm going through tough times and i truly know the value of this book now. every time i think of a mother singing such wonderful words to her child and about such unconditional love i cry. i'm proud to say i love my mother like this and despite reader-from-alabama's comments i am a daughter and i think she's missing the point of the book entirely....

I'm getting this book again soon and I have no intention to lose it. Rather I plan to keep it for when I have children many years from now. This si the kind of book you will remember for the rest of your life. I havent read it in many years yet I remember everything about it.

Thank you to Robert Munsch.

5 out of 5 stars Profound yet simple book about parent/child life and love.   August 20, 2000
I read this book many years ago as my first child was growing. I could never read it without crying. It is both sad and happy. Its a profound book as it relates the joys of loving your children as they grow from birth to adult. I still read this book to my other three children. They think its just great that I still come to tears but they too love the meaning in the book.

5 out of 5 stars Even Guys bawl when they read this one!   August 25, 1999

I found this book by accident. I loved it so much, I bought a copy for my mother, who loved it also. My eyes well up each time I read it, because it symbolizes the wonderful love that only a family can generate. I guess some people can find reasons to fault the book...but then again some people complain when they go to Disney World, too! I just take it a face value.

5 out of 5 stars A sweet, touching book   August 6, 1999

Please ignore any negative comments about this book and take it for what it is...a CHILDREN's book about a mother's love. How comforting for a child to know that no matter how old he gets or how naughty he may act, his mother/father will ALWAYS love him. When my son is too old to rock in my lap, my heart will ache to hold him and I don't think I'm "perverse" for that. He will always be my "baby"..from the time he was in my womb until he's taller than me.

This story is about so much more than a mother sneaking in a window to rock her adult son. It's a description of how love is generational- the mother loves her child and he returns that love to her. Forget the psycho-babble and enjoy this treasure. You'll have a hard time not crying when reading it.
