4 out of 5 stars Good but quite a few misfires   July 25, 2008

The latest Now is packed with some of the biggest hits of recent months. On the plus side it contains five number ones, five number twos, three number threes plus eleven other Top 10 hits.

But perhaps due to the sluggish nature of the singles charts these days with some songs hanging around in the Top 40 for four or five months, the Now people have struggled to maintain the astoundingly high standard established by Now 68, which really restored the luster to a franchise that was beginning to tarnish. For example, disc one contains six tracks which did not even make the Top 10 and disc two a further nine. Some of these barely scraped the Top 30!

Another disappointment was that the compilers chose to include Coldplay's plodding Violet Hill, which only made number 8 in the singles chart, instead of their more recent and much better track Viva La Vida which made number one.

Please find below the track listing with the highest UK chart position given after each song:

1. Estelle feat. Kanye West American Boy 1
2. Dizzee Rascal feat. Calvin Harris & Chrome Dance Wiv Me 1

4 out of 5 stars The best one for ages   July 23, 2008

I normally buy these albums out of some sort of compulsion, which I realise is playing into the hands of those who make it-but this one is actually worth buying there are loadsa good songs on it from artists who I wouldn't buy an album of but like the one song.

My favourites are: American Boy, Warwick Avenue, Love Song, Can't Speak French, Denial, 10 000 Nights, That's Not My Name, Heartbeat, Cops and Robbers, Violet Hill, Take A Bow, No Air (although this is a rubbish version, he album version is much better), Heartbreaker, Touch My Body, Better In Time (this radio edit is actually a worthy addition to anyone who already owns Spirit), With You, Wearing My Rolex and Cry For You.

These are all brilliant and make the album worth buying!

4 out of 5 stars One of the better Now Albums   July 21, 2008

One of the better editions and extremly up to date.

It would be much better had they have replaced Coldplays 'Violet Hill' with 'Viva la Vida' - i don't understand why the latter was left off since it actually got to number one. It's still a mystery why Madonna still doesn't allow her songs on these albums. 4 Minutes is a huge omission and it's a shame. It's also missing Nelly and Fergies Party People, but other then that it's great.

5 out of 5 stars The best one yet!   July 15, 2008

Had a sneek preview and i must say it is by far the best 'Now' album yet ...great for listening to when you are getting ready to go out and a real mood making collection!
