The magic of Abba lives on July 31, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The remarkable thing about this CD is the fact that Benny and Bjorn reassembled the musicians who created the original classic tracks and brought them all together to lay down the tracks for this OST album. And the richness of the sound is incredible, at once familiar and brand new.
Don't be disappointed if you wanted to hear Thank You For The Music and was distraught not to see it on the track listing. Just leave the disc running at the end and be patient...
For me, the Winner Takes It All is the highlight vocally, but there isn't a weak track here and you have to admire the ingenuity with which the songs have been weaved into a story with only minor lyric changes.
Now all we need is for somebody to conjur up a plot for Mamma Mia 2 so that some of the classic album tracks that have not been used so far can be given the same treatment. Happy New Year? There's the beginnings of a plot right there...

A pretty good movie soundtrack, featuring all the songs from the movie. Meryl Streep is a surprisingly good singer (though I feel she over emoted in The Winner Takes It All). The girl who plays Sophie basically carries the CD and more than makes up for the less than stellar voices in the cast. Julie Waters provides the comic relief in "Take A Chance On Me". Pierce Brosnan does a passable "When All is Said and Done" but unfortunately manages to kill "SOS".
I'm sorry, but if you waqnt decent versions of these songs, stick with Abba.
Brilliant CD!! July 22, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
What can I say....saw the film and just had to buy the sound track and never really been an Abba fan.
Soundtrack is brilliant, very very good, missing a few songs from the film but isn't that always the way?
Highly recommend this CD for easy listening and to sing along to, to get that good feel factor!!

Being a fan of ABBA, when i heard that they were going to be making a Mamma Mia movie, i was absolutely thrilled. Nevertheless, i forgot all about it until they started advertising it recently.
The more trailers i seen for the film, the more i couldn't wait until i finally decided that i was building it up far too much.. The film was absolutely amazing...camp, funny, tearful at times, joyous!! Laughing and crying the whole way through.
Meryl Streep has always been one of my favourite actresses and she just excels in this soundtrack. Brilliant voice - wonderfully mature for the role of mother. My favourites from Meryl are Money, Money, Money and Slipping Through My Fingers.
This soundtrack is wonderful. Listening to it, i can play the whole film in my head. I was absolutely delighted to see them introduce "When All Is Said And Done" too - beautiful track from Pierce Brosnan. I've got to say, i'm not completely sure about whether i like his voice yet, but it's certainly growing on me. One of my favourite tracks on the album.
Amanda Seyfried has a wonderful voice - is this the girl from Mean Girls? Who played the ditzy blonde? She excels on Thank You For The Music which i the hidden last track on the album, played at the end of I Have a Dream. Really beautiful version which would make Agentha proud i imagine.
Colin Firth is great on Our Last Summer - his voice i really like. Very English, proper, clean accent. Really suits the song.
Other favourites are Does Your Mther Know and The Winner Takes It All.
Only thing i would have liked to have seen is maybe a DVD clip on the CD to watch - would have been great! But i await the Mamma Mia DVD!
