A simply love story for new generations. December 10, 2006 It's a shame Janet Schulman's 10 Trick-or-Treaters arrived too late for more timely October Halloween mention: all we can say is, it's sure to maintain interest over the next year and beyond, offering a blend of zany, bright drawings by Linda Davick paired with a Halloween-theme counting book based on the adventures of ten little trick-or-treaters. Truman Capote's classic A CHRISTMAS MEMORY receives Beth Peck's warm holiday drawings, a cd narrated by Celeste Holm and returns the 50th anniversary of a classic holiday story to print. A Christmas ritual of baking fruitcakes symbolizes the story of Buddy and his eccentric, elderly cousin. It first appeared in 1956 as a memoir of Capote's childhood but makes a simply love story for new generations.
10 Trick or Treaters is SWEET! October 8, 2005 I bought this book for my 19 month old. She loves the colorful pictures and the rhyming verse. She asks me to read it to her all the time.

_10 Trick-or-Treaters : a Halloween Counting Book_ is a cute addition for your Halloween collection. Your little ones at home, school, or library will enjoy Janet Schulman's simple, rhythmic counting rhymes. It's easy for the kids to chime in with, "and then there were _____," as the trick-or-treaters run off, one by one.
Linda Davick's vividly colored illustrations are totally out-of-proportion which is great. There's no way your little ones will think her scenes are real, much less scary.
She's created a ghost with pink socks and lavender slippers, a green-faced fuzzy monster with red sneakers and white socks, and a fat mummy with white polka-dotted purple underwear peeking out of his sloppy bandages.
Linda's silly touches include a pink concrete mixer truck spewing "Party Mix" goodies instead of cement slurry, an owl toting 5 helium-filled balloons, a black cat making a 911 call, and best of all, big grins on the faces of the "scare-ers" -- the spider, frog, bat, skeleton, witch, and vampire.
_10 Trick-or-Treaters_ is a terrific "Isn't that silly!!" book to share with your little ones. You'll all be giggling in no time, and that should take the "scariness" out of Halloween if you have little ones enjoying this silly holiday for the first time.
_10 Trick-or-Treaters_ is definitely worth 5 stars from gobbysreviews, and it's inexpensive, too.
ENJOY!
