Product Description
A two-day retreat at Findhorn, Scotland — famous as a spiritual center on the leading edge of personal and global transformation — offered an ideal showcase for Eckhart Tolle's transformative concepts, documented in this exciting package containing a book and two DVDs that capture the author at his best. Using his trademark lighthearted but penetrating style, Tolle explores in depth the concept of stillness and how to achieve it. Only by doing so, says the author, can transformation occur. Stillness offers a doorway into the Now and to true personal enlightenment, according to Tolle. Too often, people become trapped in their mind-created sense of self. He explains the compulsions that drive people’s thoughts as they analyze, interpret, and label every conscious experience they have. The result? An inability to perceive the sacredness in oneself and the natural world. Eckhart Tolle's Findhorn Retreat offers serene sanity in a world in desperate need of it.

4 out of 5 stars TOLLE IS A TALISMAN   June 20, 2008
AMAZING TO DISCOVER--AS HE WAS LECTURING IN HIS SENTIENT-BEING STYLE, "JETS" WERE FLYING OVER HEAD. NO O N E SEEMED TO NOTICE. HE IS PEACE PERSONIFIED.

5 out of 5 stars Enjoyed it   June 5, 2008

I bought this DVD as I started the online Oprah class. Each (this DVD and online webinar) has its place - Tolle is a little more accessible on the Oprah webinar, but I will be using this DVD as a "refresher" instead of slogging through all the Oprah classes again. The overall message and many of the examples, etc. are the same for both, but I found different points hit me in each, which has been a good thing. This DVD is definitely a more quiet and contemplative exposure to Tolle's teachings. As an aside, as a person who tries to live a Christian life and who reads the Bible regularly, I've found Tolle's teachings to be very helpful in building my spiritual practice.

4 out of 5 stars Tolle's Retreat like a vacation for the soul   May 28, 2008

For those of you who met Eckhart Tolle through Oprah's webcast series, and thought that 18 hours wasn't quite enough, (and sometimes it isn't) here's four more. Tolle speaks with a simplicity that is both enlightening and empowering, and still makes you feel like kind of an idiot that you didn't think of this stuff yourself.

I think that I would have preferred this as an audio rather than a DVD; not too many people have four hours to sit and watch a guy in a chair talk, and I understand an audio version is available. I have to say I don't think too much of the accompanying book. It doesn't add much to the package. But I recommend the DVD for its content, which takes you beyond even what he managed to cover on the Oprah webcast. You come away after even an hour refreshed, invigorated, and feeling great about life. It's like a weekend mini-break for the soul, and it is much appreciated.

5 out of 5 stars DVDs Offer More integration of Tolle Material   May 19, 2008

I purchased this product because after reading both "The Power of Now" and "A New Earth", I was curious to see the author speak in person, to get a sense of his authenticity. The DVDs start uneventfully - but of course the theme is "stillness amidst the world", so that is to be expected.

I really enjoyed hearing him speak his message. He went on for two hours at a time on each DVD without notes, never struggling for ideas or words, yet conveying a quiet sincerity that shines through brilliantly when he talks. He spoke of mostly the same thing during both presentations, weaving the same ideas about form and formlessness over and over in various ways, so that the talk itself was like an active meditation, a listening meditation, an exercise in being fully present.

I felt that listening to him talk both deepened and enriched the information he presents in his books. As well, it gave me a more connected feeling to the man. Still, books are wonderful to carry around and refer easily back to, so I'm not ready to give them up either. I would highly recommend this DVD presentation to anyone who enjoys the books, as a deepener of that information.

4 out of 5 stars Tolle is Great   April 15, 2008

What can I say, I'm getting all his stuff. I rated this 4 stars to separate it from his books which are 5 stars. This is a much simpler introduction to the Now. A prequel if you will.
Also a must in MHO. It's a joy to watch Tolle, that is to see his Joy, brings joy to you. I now understand that someone in the moment can bring you there with him. Since I bought this DVD set after the books, there really was no new material. This should have been bought first. However, if you love Tolle this is a must have.
