Product Description
In the resplendence of William the Conqueror's London court, the lovely Saxon captive, Nicholaa was forced to choose a husband from the assembled Norman nobles. She chose Royce, a baron warrior whose fierce demeanor could not conceal his chivalrous and tender heart. Resourceful, rebellious and utterly naive, Nicholaa vowed to bend Royce to her will, despite the whirlwind of feelings he aroused in her. Ferocious in battle, seasoned in passion, Royce was surprised by the depth of his emotion whenever he caressed his charming bride.

In a climate of utmost treachery, where Saxons still intrigued against their Norman invaders, Royce and Nicholaa revelled in their precious new love...a fervent bond soon to be disrupted by the call of blood, kin and country!

3 out of 5 stars It was okay... but not one of her best..   April 16, 2008
I LOVE Julie Garwood's historical books. But this book just didn't do her justice for her historical romance category. For me, it jumped way to fast from one person to the other, and I had to go back and reread the paragraph to see whose point of view it was. It got confusing A LOT of the time. By all means the plot is GREAT. but the way she wrote it wasn't the best.

5 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC   March 30, 2008
after reading four of Julie Garwood's novels now, i realise how good she is! The Prize is the most beautiful story and utterly hilarious! i can't express how much i enjoyed this book and all of the other Julie Garwood novels i have read! i just couldn't put this book down, and recommend it to ANYONE! you won't be disappointed!!!

4 out of 5 stars Garwood does it again!   March 26, 2008
Garwood has woven a wonderful romantic tale. She is the only writer that makes me want to call in sick and read (although I never have!) Royce and Nicholaa and a perfect match. I enjoyed reading about them falling in love and Justin's story, which was incredible.

This joins the others-- Saving Grace, The Secret and Honor's Splendour comes in as ultimate love stories. I am working my way through all Garwoods work and will be sad when there are no more to read.

1 out of 5 stars juvenile drivel   February 20, 2008

Wow -- after all the great reviews here i thought i would give julie garwood a try. to my deep disappointment, she is dreadful. her dialogue is utterly stupid, her plot is nonsensical, and her characters are one-dimensional at best. what a waste of time. and just think of all the poor trees used to make this trash. horrid!

2 out of 5 stars Childish and Lackluster!   January 14, 2008

This is my first Garwood and because she comes so highly recommended I'll try another of her books. Hopefully they'll be better than this one! The plot is summed up nicely in other reviews so I won't repeat it.

I found the dialogue childish and immature, esp. between the hero and heroine. It was like they were 10 years old!! I mean, I know they married young in the middle ages but geez!! The plot was so boring that 2/3 of the way through the book I realized I just didn't want to invest the time into finishing this book. Just not a good book overall!
