Comments: Trade Paperback, this is How the Scots Invented the Modern World: The True Story of How Western Europe's Poorest Nation Created Our World & Everything in It by Arthur Herman, from Three Rivers Press (New York:2001). First paperback edition, First Thus. Gently used book. Pages have underlining in pencil in the first three chapters, otherwise clean. Paper wraps are smooth with light edge wear, no creasing. This book?s UK title is The Scottish Enlightenment, which is more accurate but not as catchy for US eyes. The US title makes it sound like a response to How the Irish Saved Civilization, but it is actually less of a popular general history than a study of Scotland in the 18th century. Well-reviewed. {chk dups}
