Keep your copy, you'll want to read it over and over. September 16, 1996 Outlander by Diana Gabaldon is one of those instant classicsthat appeals to almost every segment of the reading public. For the romantics, there is the sweet, and sometimes bitter- sweet relationship between the two main characters Claire and Jamie. For history lovers, there is the rich discovery of 18th century Scotland, England and France (other places are explored in the sequels). For armchair adventurers, Claire and Jamie take you on a wild ride for war, mischief, political intrigue, treason, mystery, piracy, betrayal, capture and escape...you will not be bored! You will find it difficult to believe it is only the figment of one author's imagination. This story comes alive and kidnaps your own imagination and you just might find yourself in the closest library doing research to learn more about the characters you meet in Outlander. The characters will follow you wherever you go even after you have turned that last page. Read in now, and read it again later because I guarantee that you will be right there with me waiting impatiently for the next book.
Better than Butter! September 9, 1996 An outrageously fantastic novel that will redefine the definitions of category. There are many genres stuck to this work, but it has no peers... A world unto itself. Deserves every award that a book can receive
Fiction as a way to learn History. August 25, 1996 This story is fiction yet all details of the setting andhistory of the time are accurate. Reading this bookis a wonderful way to learn about Scotland and the Jacobite revolution. It's sequels, Dragonfly in Amber and Voyager, continue the story of the main characters and the history of Scotland.
The best sci-fi, historic, romantic fiction ever written! August 8, 1996 This book has something for every reader. Sci-fi fans willlike the time travel. Historic fans will like the fictionblended with the actual history of 18th century Scotland. And romance fans will love the trial and tribulations of Clair and Jamie. Diana Gabaldon is thorough, imaginative, and funny. The book flows from one scene to another, the reader will forget where they are and become enveloped into the story. Her descriptions are so vivid and her imagination is so wild, and her words so well written that one forgets that the book is fiction. Not only is the reader cheering for Clair and Jamie, but for all of Scotland as well. A must read for anyone who loves a well written, all around great story!
A Fantastic book! August 8, 1996 This is one of my favorite books. I even got my mother who only reads Science Fiction to admit that this was a wonderful book. Its nice and long, the characters are very real and engaging, and the plot is full of twists and turns. I honestly couldn't put it down, and stayed up all night to read it
