4 out of 5 stars What a great sequel to Outlander   March 18, 2007

This book picks up where Outlander left off and travels from Paris and back to Scotland while Jamie and Claire keep having somewhat insane adventures in their quest to stop Charles Stuart from unmitigated disaster. The book is highly entertaining and full of twists and turns that you don't see coming. I loved the book and will definitely continue reading the Outlander series! The only thing wrong with it is that its a little hard to keep with with which character is which because there are just so many. But that's what the Outlandish Companion is good for.

The continuing saga of Jamie and Claire enchants, not for just its adventure, romance and engrossing plot but also for its historical background. The futile support for Bonnie Prince Charlie came into focus for me in the reading of this book and I better understand the reason for the migration of so many Scots to this country around that time. (I also learned to pronounce Culloden!)

5 out of 5 stars Best story ever continued!   January 20, 2007

The first book in this series is Outlander, which was my favorite, but really they are all wonderful. The narrator of these stories, Davina Porter, is phenomenal. She tells the story and you are on the edge of your seat the whole time!

4 out of 5 stars A fabulous sequal to "Outlander"   January 17, 2007

I began this book very excited and nervous about what would unfold for Claire and Jamie Fraser. I quickly became confused as I delved into the first section of the novel, looking back to the cover and rereading the sequence of the series, asking myself "Did I forget something? Is this really the next novel in the series?" The beginning of the novel felt a little disjointed, and I became suddenly disappointed at the prospect of missing out on Claire and Jamie's child's raising.

Thankfully, the pace of the novel returned and I was able to join Claire and Jamie's adventures in France, and loved every second of it. Although I understand the reason Diana G. began the novel in the way that she did, I found it very confusing and even anti-climatic. Anyone who loved "Outlander" will enjoy this novel--don't give up during the first few chapters, keep going and read the lovely tale Diana spins.

A very exciting book about Claire and her husband for the moment in France. They are received by Louis XIV at court, and Claire is very popular. This is a book for everytbody who loves reading about things that happened some hundred years ago. :-)I recommend that you read first the other books about Claire and how she travelled from the 20th century to the 18th century.
