5 out of 5 stars The Burning   April 16, 2005

This book was exelant. I have read all 6 of the books and I think this book is the best book out of all of them. This book is good because it has alot of spots that are very suspenceful. This book is also good because you learn more about the characters.

After being severely disapointed by The 5th book in this series, I have to say that "The Burning" was a huge improvement, although I don't like how Lasky tweaked the personalities of the characters to fit new stories. She also took ideas, for example, Eglantine's state after being imprisoned by Kludd for the first time, and didn't really explain them. She also brought in the idea of "The Others", which is us humans, (duh), but didn't do anything with it. I would still recommend this series, though, because of the interesting new ideas and gripping plotlines.

5 out of 5 stars Yay!!   March 31, 2005

After the over-edited, repitive 5th entry in the series, The Shattering, I was looking at The Burning and thinking, "What if this tarnishes the series even more?" But I was brave and picked it up. And I was rewarded for my perseverence.

By chapter 2, I was giggling at the return of some funny characters from The Journey. Later, I couldn't stop smiling as I read about Otulissa's exploits at the Glauxian Brothers' Retreat. After about halfway through the book, I literally could not put it down. I was too captivated by Gylfie's courageous escape from danger, Soren's anger over the parliament's controversial decisions (which you'll have to read the book to find out), and finally, by the exciting battle scene that concludes the book. I should note that, although this seems to be the last in the series, I am pretty sure there's going to be a 7th book (first, because it's listed on amazon, and second, well, I'm not telling). So anyway, if you were let down by The Shattering like I was, never fear--this book brings back everything you loved about the first four.

1 out of 5 stars Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh   March 29, 2005

The Burning sucks. Soren is so annoying. The first 3 books were wonderful and the 4th and 5th was OK but the Burning was bad. Seriously Soren is constantly bossing everyone around. All of the owls are like pooooooooor Soren his brother is evil. It reminds me of when weird kids at school practically worship popular kids.

4 out of 5 stars Really really really GOOD   March 29, 2005

The Burning was like wow!!! It got kind of annoying that Soren was ordering everyone around including his sister though.
