LOST BUT RIVETED October 17, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As a Scotsman I can identify with a lot of this book. When you read it it seems to wander, then you get to a part and realize it has a convoluted direction. I get the feeling this is intentional. Overall it's a book that when you try to put down you can't, something in the storyline keeps you wanting to read more.
Unique and Memorable September 22, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Craig Ferguson creates unforgettable characters (think Confederacy of the Dunces but without the depth)and story. I gave in to the bizarre story and simply enjoyed it. Emotions and events are powerful. There is love, hate, despair, cruelty, redemption and more. There is nothing ordinary that happens in this satire--all is powerful stuff. A true adventure. Loved his treatment of Hollywood.

Awesome! September 8, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Hillarious, well written and very witty. Funny, sad, and honest. Some philosophical aspects are weak, but that's probably just b/c of my own biases.
Plot wanders far and wide July 30, 2007 2 out of 10 found this review helpful
Although the four characters sort of come together briefly at points, there is much bouncing back and forth between their stories and it has way too many details and asides. A very challenging book. And it's pretty crude. I did like the story about the old ugly woman who could turn herself into a cat and a beautiful woman, but that was one short chapter.
FUNNY, SEXY AND HEARTBREAKING July 23, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
A delightful, funny and provocative story taking place on two continents and in the minds of some complex and compelling characters. If you're a Craig Ferguson fan already you won't want it to end. If you don't follow Mr. Ferguson's work yet get ready to be introduced to one of the funniest and most charming entertainers working today. I love his comedy and now I love his writing as well. I envy the newcomers all they are about to enjoy. His is a sexy combination of harsh reality and exotic fantasy. Read it. You'll love it.
