5 out of 5 stars Excellent Primer   September 7, 2000

This is an excellent first book on the study of squirrels or an excellent refresher of squirrel basics to us long-time squirrel lovers. The chapters are concise and seem to answer those "but what about" questions. Written by a squirrel scientist, the author has a subtle sense of humour (she's British) which perks up the factual style. While the book focuses on her knowledge and experiences of the red and gray squirrels in the UK, the information is applicable here in North America, the original home of the gray squirrel. There are no squirrel photos but many relevant drawings illustrating the chapter subject. I find the information, style and information of this book to my liking.
