1 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware   August 19, 2008

I've used Quickbooks for approximately 10 years, and am very familiar with its capabilities and limitations. Unfortunately, Intuit markets this product as Vista compatible. It is not. And although the product does operate, there are significant issues.

4 out of 5 stars Great Accounting Product   August 15, 2008

Great product. Has a little learning curve for non-accountants like myself but overall a decent accounting package.

One should get a general overview of accounts before tackling setting up a company books or get professional assistance.

5 out of 5 stars Upgrade from QB Pro 2005   August 15, 2008
Upgrade was seamless (unlike my Vista experience). Thanks Intuit.
I had one bug using Word 2007 which was fixed with an "update." I am an electrical contractor. This program makes running my business simple, not just for me, for my accountant as well. The new version is very similar to the old one, just easier to navigate and more intuitive. I highly recommend this program.

1 out of 5 stars Choose something else!   August 6, 2008

After using Intuit products for over 15 years, I am totally dissatisfied not only with the product but the customer service. I wish I could say the problems were isolated to one incident but over the course of 9 months of using Quickbooks 2008, there have been repeated problems. The program is not user friendly. The change of the fiscal year caused the the program on it's own to limit access in certain data areas. Worse than the glitches is the offensive customer service. Rude techs, (different people) with the same relational problems who deem customer service behavior to include telling the customer that if they "read the manual" or the "agreement" then there would be no need for the phone calls. Further should the customer want to speak to a supervisor, that is not a choice but the call is being recorded and the customer is free to check the website. Done with Intuit. I am finding another program.

1 out of 5 stars Beware the trap!   July 31, 2008

Quickbooks seems to have a file incompatability policy that makes it very difficult to share information with users of previous versions. QB2007 will not read QB2008 files (and not everyone wants to upgrade to 2008!) and QB2008 has no "save as..." option to save in the previous version. And, of course, there is no discounted upgrade for QB2007 users. Bottom line: they want to make it very difficult for users to defer upgrades until there is something really compelling by twisting their arms with pre-meditated incompatabilities and built-in hardships. This is not a customer-centric or trust-building policy!
